Rosemary, Rosmarinus officinalis, is a shrub from the Lamiaceae family that grows wild throughout the Mediterranean. It has numerous phytopharmaceutical properties, but it is also a condiment and honey plant (rosemary honey is highly valued), as well as a product frequently used in perfumery. Its Latin name means "rose of the sea" because it grows naturally by the sea, but according to evangelical tradition, "rosemary" means "rose of Mary."
